(AP) - In a rare moment of glory, Oakland will shine in the national spotlight Friday as the Golden State Warriors parade through the city with their NBA championship trophy.
The Warriors have returned to the San Francisco Bay Area after defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers in six games Tuesday, taking its first basketball championship in 40 years. The victory parade starts Friday morning in downtown Oakland, followed by a rally at the end of the route.
There will be a procession of floats. Bay Area Rapid Transit will run extra trains through Oakland all day and will modify routes. AC Transit expects significant delays for most of the day. Some streets will also be closed.
