The community of Mountain House in San Joaquin County is losing its water supply.
The state has ordered water districts to stop taking water from the Delta and state waterways, which would leave the community of 4,200 people dry.
Mountain House General Manager Edwin Pattison says the community's traditional source of water has been in its own backyard.
"It was quite the surprise considering there is storage in the Delta, we would argue there continues to be storage there, the grim irony is that we're really at the heartbeat of California's water supply with water flowing right by our office," says Pattison.
Pattison says Mountain House expects to secure water from another supplier sometime soon, but it will be expensive.
