11:05 p.m. - Fire officials say ground crews are working through the night to build and reinforce containment lines and that portions of U.S. Highway 50 remain closed.
The fire is holding at 100 acres, and is 5 percent contained as of late Thursday.
The California Highway Patrol says all traffic detour SR-49 southbound to SR-88 northbound and SR-89.
Air Attack has requested law enforcement for public safety at the reservoir, asking people watching the helicopters dip to get water need to stay at a safe distance.

5:36 p.m. - A fire is burning along Highway 50 at Kyburz, near Whitehall and Highway 50, has grown to 100 acres.
The fire in the El Dorado National Forest, is burning north of the American River, on both sides of Highway 50 and structures are threatened.
Forest Service officials say there are mandatory evacuations from Whitehall to Sand Flat Campground and voluntary evacuations for Kyburz and Strawberry. Structures are threatened.
Highway 50 is closed east of Sly Park road and west of Myers.
Kristi Schroeder, with the El Dorado National Forest in Placerville, says 224 firefighters are working to get containment on the Kyburz Fire.
"Well the fire is kind of in two places, it is north of the American River but it is on both sides of Highway 50. So the area between Highway 50 and the river is the area where we are getting a lot of the spotting. And so we have mandatory evacuations from Whitehall, where it started, to Sand Flat Campground."
Aerial resources include air tankers, helicopter and the new 'Super Scooper' stationed at South Lake Tahoe.
The forest service says the scooper is using water from Lake Tahoe to make drops on the wildfire, which was reported about two this afternoon.
3:00 p.m. - A fire, with a moderate rate of spread, is spreading along Highway 50 at Kyburz, near Whitehall and Highway 50. It was reported about 2 p.m. Thursday. The highway is closed as air and ground crews work the incident.
The U.S. Forest Service says the fire was at 20 acres and is burning north of the American River on both sides of Highway 50 in the Whitehall area.

Highway 50 is closed east of Ice House Road and west of Strawberry.
The Kyburz fire was reported at about 2 p.m., and had grown to 20 acres by 3 p.m., according to the U.S. Forest Service InciWeb incident report.
