(AP) - It's a sad ending to the search for an 8-year-old Northern California girl who vanished Sunday afternoon while riding her scooter.
Police in Santa Cruz say a body found inside a trash bin at an artist community and housing center likely belongs to Madyson Middleton.
Santa Cruz Police Chief Kevin Vogel says, "We haven't positively identified her yet but we believe she is probably Madyson Middleton."
Madyson lived at the complex with her mother, and a 15-year-old boy who also lives in the community has been arrested.
