The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District says the fire Monday afternoon charred 430 acres in the community of Elverta. The blaze moved quickly burning through grassland because of strong winds.
The fire started in Placer County and spread into Sacramento County. Officials say one home, six cars and one tractor was destroyed. The blaze also threatened up to 30 homes.
