Starting Monday Modesto police are giving out "tickets" to kids for good behavior. It's part of a program called "Operation Chill."
Modesto cops are hoping to catch some kids in the act of doing good.
For such "offenses" as putting in extra time as a school crossing guard, kids can be ticketed with a free Slurpee from 7-Eleven.
Heather Graves with Modesto Police says officers will give out 900 tickets in the next few weeks.
"It encourages children to be positive role models for other children and get rewarded for it," says Graves.
Graves says the effort also gives officers a chance to make new friends.
"Gives us an opportunity to make a positive interaction with them and not just a police call for service," she says.
Graves says police departments nationwide have distributed 14 million coupons over the last 20 years as part of Operation Chill.
