Sacramento State student Anthony Sadler - one of three Americans who foiled an attack on a Paris-bound train - says he and his friends did whatever they could to disarm the gunman.
In an interview that aired last night on NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, Sadler said people have a choice to act or hide in these situations, and he encourages people to act.
"Yeah in the days since, I've kind of like laid down and kind of thought just how easily things could have gone the other way. When we actually got up to rush him he did fire at Spencer, but it just never went off."
"Spencer" is U.S. Airman Spencer Stone, who along with Sadler and Oregon National Guard specialist Alek Skarlatos tackled the gunman carrying a handgun and assault weapon.
The 23-year-old Sadler also appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon earlier this week.
ABC has announced that Skarlatos has been booked as part of the 21st season cast of Dancing With the Stars. A U.S. military spokesman says Stone is scheduled to remain under military care in Germany this week.
