(AP) - The Washoe County Sheriff's Office is reminding recreational shooters to obey local rules as hunting seasons open this weekend.
Sheriff's officials say they've received several complaints in the last few years from bicyclists, hikers and homeowners about shots heard close to residential areas.
It's against the law to fire any gun, pistol, rifle or other firearm within 5,000 feet of a home. It's illegal to discharge shotguns, air rifles or B-B guns within 1,000 feet.
Information about the regulations and maps of restricted areas can be found on the sheriff's office website.
Hunting seasons for quail and chukar over the weekend.
