The Los Rios Police Department and the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department are investigating a possible threat of violence against the campus of American River College in Sacramento.
Detectives with the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau and Los Rios Police arrested a 21-year-old Sacramento man Thursday night on a felony charge of threats to commit a crime resulting in death or great bodily injury.
He was booked into the Sacramento County Jail and is currently being held on $250,000 bail.
Los Rios Police say an ARC student told a staff member Thursday that the suspect had allegedly made a verbal threat against the main ARC campus, with the intention of carrying out the threat Friday.
Police say no specific person or group of people was mentioned in the alleged threat and a motive has not been determined. Los Rios Police say there's no reason to believe anyone else was involved.
"My highest commendations go to the student and staff members who acted promptly and appropriately on the information they had, as well as the combined efforts of the Los Rios Police and Sheriff’s Department in moving swiftly into action," ARC President Thomas Greene said in a press release.
An investigation is underway. Anyone with information about Clark or his potential threat should contact the Los Rios Police Department at (916) 558-2221.
