(AP) - The city of West Sacramento will pay $2.8 million to four women who were raped by an on-duty police officer.
The Sacramento Bee says the city agreed to the payment in a lawsuit settlement Wednesday.
Previous settlements with other women brings the total to more than $4 million.
Authorities say former Officer Sergio Alvarez sexually assaulted at least five women in 2011 and 2012, targeting drug addicts and prostitutes. Prosecutors said Alvarez, a father of three, forced the women to perform sex acts in his cruiser, back alleys and wooded lots.
Alvarez was convicted last year of 18 counts of kidnapping, rape and forced oral copulation. He was sentenced to 205 years in prison.
