The Department of Public Works will ask the Sacramento City Council Tuesday night to approve the purchase of $3.2 million worth of new fire engines.
Four wildland trucks would cost $190,000 each. Four urban fire engines would cost $616,000 each.
The city is also asking for 106 sedans, vans, SUVs, trucks, and trailers.
The city joins with the State of California or the National Joint Powers Alliance co-op to receive discounts for purchases of large numbers of vehicles.
Most of the purchases are from Sacramento-area dealerships, but some are from Hanford, Livermore, Watsonville, or Alhambra.
