8:34 a.m.: The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District says one person has died in a house fire Wednesday morning on Sunrise Boulevard in Citrus Heights.
In a tweet, officials confirmed that the deceased is an elderly female. Two cats also perished in the blaze.
First responders are looking for a possible second victim at the site on McLin Way. Sac Metro says the second floor of the house partially collapsed.
Meanwhile, a memorial fund has been established for the family of two children who died in a house fire Tuesday in Sacramento's Meadowview area.
Four adults and one child escaped the two-story home on Babette Way. The Sacramento Fire Department says it has not determined if the home had working smoke alarms.
A firefighter suffered first-and-second-degree burns on portions of his face and his ears.
