About 20 Sacramento-area employers will interview candidates for nearly 400 positions at a job fair Tuesday. Some employers only hire through events like this one.
The event includes state jobs, managerial positions and some entry-level employment.
Karen Dawal with HIREvents Job Fairs says if you're looking for work, you should never make assumptions about the openings a company may have.
"When job seekers walk in the door and I see them kind of looking around, I tell them, get in there and talk," says Dawal. "You're more than just a piece of paper or a resume. So, introduce yourself, take charge, let them know who you are, what you have available, and then see what kind of jobs you can find that match your skills.
Dawal says some of the jobs are not available online.
"We've noticed employers come to the job fair and bring what we call 'hidden jobs' -a lot of jobs you won't see on websites," says Dawal. "And the reason for that is because they're so inundated with resumes, they would rather wait for an event like this so that way they're not inundated."
The job fair will be held at the Masonic Temple on J Street from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday.
The jobs available this year include educational, clerical, cyber-security and, for the first time in several years, mortgage, financing, and banking positions.
There are will also be entry-level and management positions.
