About 1,500 people are expected to take part in Modesto's "Spirit of Giving Jingle Bell 5K Run and Walk" this Saturday.
Downtown Modesto sidewalks will turn white as snowflakes fall from the air propelled by snowmaking machines.
It's all part of the Modesto Spirit of Giving Run and festival.
The funds raised will go towards recreational programs for low-income kids, the disabled, and seniors and to the Modesto Gospel Mission which provides meals and shelter to the homeless.
Mission Director Kevin Carroll says runners donated a thousand pounds of canned food last year.
"One of the largest growing populations of homeless we see are women and children and nobody wants to see that happen," says Carroll. "It is a great thing to see people to come together for an event like this, it's going to help extend their hand."
Santa will be on hand, the Grinch will too and kids can run him out of town in a free quarter-mile fun run.
