9:20 a.m.: Lanes have reopened on north Interstate 5 at Sutterville Road after an earlier big rig crash.
8:50 a.m.: Two crashes slowed traffic on northbound Interstate 5 in South Sacramento early Monday.
Two other accidents delayed motorists on southbound Highway 99 near 47th Street. Two lanes are currently blocked due to those crashes. Authorities are recommending alternative routes.
Original Post: Officials are warning motorists of a slow commute on northbound Interstate 5 in South Sacramento after two big rig crashes early Monday.
The first occurred just south of Sutterville Road at about 3 a.m. The crash shut down lanes on both sides of the freeway. Initial reports indicate that a big rig hit the median and one person was transported to an area hospital.
The second crash is located just south of 43rd Avenue involving several vehicles including a van, a car and a big rig.
The first crash is similar to a fatal one that occurred Dec. 10 involving a FedEx truck.
