Sacramento International Airport is bustling this holiday season. The airport’s Mark Haneke says traffic is up 7 percent over this time last year. He says so far lines are moving smoothly. But he advises travelers to get to the airport early. Haneke also says any present being carried through security should be left unwrapped.
"TSA might need to open them up to inspect the items," he says. "So it’s better the leave them unwrapped and plan on wrapping them when you get to you destination."
This is the first Christmas the airport is allowing ride-sharing companies like Uber and Lyft to drop-off and pick-up passengers. Haneke says those and other ride options like taxies or buses could be useful as more people use the airport parking lots.
