Several noteworthy measures face must-pass votes this week in the California Legislature. Bills that were introduced last year but failed to pass their “house of origin” must win that passage by Friday.
Among the more notable measures expected to come up:
-
a bill mandating double-pay for working on Thanksgiving
-
a sales tax exemption on diapers
-
a $50/month diaper voucher for many families with babies on welfare
-
a measure that would no longer allow cop-killers to be given compassionate medical release on parole
-
a requirement that cleaning products disclose their ingredients on their labels
-
and a measure to let Californians take “ballot selfies” in the voting booth.”
Meanwhile, an urgency measure to fix some unintended consequences in last year’s medical marijuana regulation legislation does not need to win passage this week, but lawmakers are expected to vote on it anyway.
