(AP) - The FBI has released surveillance images of a man they suspect of being involved with bank robberies throughout Northern California.
The Oakland Tribune reports that FBI spokeswoman Gina Swankle says the man they're calling the "Hefty Heister" has been tied to eight bank robberies in seven cities since Dec. 3. He is considered armed and dangerous.
The FBI suspects the man robbed two banks in Brentwood as well as banks in Pleasant Hill, Rohnert Park, Walnut Grove, Suisun City, Lodi and Elk Grove. Six of the banks are located inside grocery stores.
Swankle says the man presented bank tellers with a note demanding money and threatening that he had a weapon. She says he's suspected of aiming a black semi-automatic pistol at the teller in one robbery.
