The National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch for the areas that were burned in the Butte Fire from Friday afternoon through Saturday morning.
Severely burned areas can no longer absorb rain which can lead to flash flooding, rock slides and debris flows. Two to three inches of moderate to heavy rainfall is expected for several hours.
Those in the areas are advised to prepare to take action in case of flash flooding, rock slides or debris flows.
The areas under watch are along Jesus Maria Creek and the Calaveras River, Whiskey Slide to Highway 26, Mountain Ranch Road and the connecting smaller roads within the Butte Fire burn area.
