(AP) - A San Joaquin Valley school board has rejected proposed dress-code changes that would have allowed boys to wear long hair and earrings, and deleted language saying skirts and dresses may only be worn by girls.
The Fresno Bee reports the Clovis Unified School District board acknowledged the possibility of a lawsuit when the proposal was turned back this week by a 4-3 vote.
The American Civil Liberties Union contends the decades-old dress code violates state gender-rights laws.
