A statewide crackdown on underage drinking led to more than 400 arrests or citations over the weekend, including 16 arrests in Sacramento County and 14 in Placer County.
The state Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, or ABC, joined with law enforcement throughout California for a decoy operation called Shoulder Tap.
Decoys would stand outside liquor stores and ask people to buy them alcohol. The penalty for furnishing alchol to a minor is a minimum fine of $1,000 and 24 hours of community service.
ABC says nearly 340 people were cited for providing alcoholic beverages to minors and 70 people were arrested or cited for open containers, false IDs, public drunkenness, parole violations and other crimes.
