The Sacramento Municipal Utility District announced Monday that it's dropping the current 1.3 percent hydroelectric surcharge effective next month.
SMUD says the storms over the last week, combined with a wetter winter, delivered enough precipitation to signal full reservoirs in the utility's hydroelectric generation system in the Sierra.
The utility says the impact of the surcharge was about $1.20 a month for residential customers. Business customers may see more savings.
