People around the world will be turning the lights out this Saturday for an hour to help save the planet. A local teen in the Woodbridge-Lodi area is calling on the community for 60 minutes of their time.
Earth Hour began nine years ago in Australia and has spread to 172 countries around the world.
Millions of people take part hoping to draw attention to climate change.
Sixteen-year-old Abbie Mulbarger is looking for support from friends and family, churches, schools, and even the Lodi City Council to be part of Earth Hour.
"We're continuing to fall down a path that isn't good for our earth so I think that small gestures like Earth Hour help get our earth back on track."
Mulbarger says she plans to have a small party of friends and family with the lights out and talk in the dark.
Participation includes turning off all non-essential lights and electrical devices Saturday night between 8:30 and 9:30.
According to Mulbarger, that's harder to do in a world of increasing technology.
