(AP) - Authorities say a gray whale that washed ashore dead in San Diego may have been struck by a ship.
The San Diego Union-Tribune says a nearly 29-foot female was found Thursday morning at Torrey Pines State Beach.
Federal biologist Kerri Danil says the whale appears to have been about 2 years old and propeller marks were found on the carcass.
But Danil says it's not known whether the whale was struck by a ship before or after she died.
The whale will be removed Friday.
