Roseville Lifts One Day A Week Watering Restrictions

The City of Roseville relaxed its outdoor watering restrictions Monday.

Last October, the city restricted residents and commercial customers to watering outdoors one day a week. Maurice Chaney with the city says they weren't planning to lift that restriction until May.

"We are moving that up because water supply conditions are better," says Chaney.

Chaney says Roseville's major supply of water, Folsom Lake, is above average and snowpack is 88 percent of normal.

That prompted the city to move to a two-day-a-week watering schedule starting today. Chaney says the new schedule includes a change in watering days.

"To stagger some of the watering and reduce impacts to our production," explains Chaney, "residential customers can water on Tuesdays and Fridays. And then for commercial customers, they're able to water on Mondays and Thursdays."

Watering hours are before 10 a.m. and after 7 p.m. Chaney says over the past year, people in Roseville have surpassed state-mandated water use reduction targets by more than five percent.

Of the 20 different water districts in the Sacramento region, each one has slightly different outdoor watering restrictions.
