A Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District firefighter was injured while battling a suspicious fire in Elverta Tuesday morning.
Officials said crews arrived in the 2300 block of Missouri Way at 4 a.m. to find heavy fire coming through the roof of a vacant home.
Crews were battling the fire from inside the home, but a rooftop air conditioning unit became unstable. Firefighters evacuated and continued their operations from the outside.
One firefighter was injured and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
Twenty-five firefighters were on scene and were able to extinguish the fire and prevent the flames from spreading.
Officials are calling the incident suspicious and arson investigators are on-scene. Damage is estimated at $50,000.
