(AP) - Authorities have identified two of the five people killed when their small car slammed into an oncoming pickup truck on a two-lane highway in Northern California.
The Sacramento County Coroner's Office on Sunday identified 17-year-old Aaliyah Buenrostro and 3-year-old Adelaynna G. Ortiz, both of Modesto.
California Highway Patrol Officer Michael Bradley tells the Sacramento Bee that the names of other victims will be released pending family notifications. He says it is still unclear how the five were related.
The highway patrol says the five were in a Honda Civic that was in a passing lane on State Route 12 about 40 miles southwest of Sacramento when the crashed happened Saturday.
Three women and the 3-year-old girl died at the scene. The second child, a 3-year-old boy, died at a hospital.
