UPDATE 2:36 p.m.: (AP) - Authorities say a 2-year-old boy has been found safe after thieves stole his father's running car from a driveway in Monterey County.
The California Highway Patrol has canceled the Amber Alert for Jacob Vargas. Where he was found was not immediately known. It was also not immediately known if he was injured.
California Highway Patrol officials say the boy's father left his black Honda Accord running when he went back inside his home shortly before 7 a.m. Thursday. When he came back, his car and his son were gone.
The boy has asthma and is required to take medication Thursday afternoon.
Original Post: Authorities have activated an Amber Alert Thursday for Monterey, Santa Cruz, San Benito, San Luis Obispo and Santa Clara counties after the reported abduction of a 2-year-old boy in Soledad, Calif.
Authorities say the abduction happened at 6:56 a.m.
Jacob Vargas, 2, is a hispanic male juvenile with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a beige beanie, blue sweater, a yellow-striped white shirt with gray sleeves and blue jeans.
The suspect is unknown and was last seen driving a 2015 black Honda Accord with the license plate 7LIE244. The car had tinted windows and damage to the left of the rear bumper.
