Sacramento County's Environmental Management Department has ordered the City of Sacramento to begin the clean up process at Mangan Park Pistol and Gun Range.
Hazardous levels of lead have been found at 11 sites outside the range building. The city says non-hazardous levels were found on nearby play areas and a picnic site.
Wednesday the county ordered more testing at the park and told the city to prepare work plans for the clean up.
The order from the county requires the city to meet several deadlines. The city must first test more areas near the gun range. The results could lead to a larger area around the facility being fenced off.
