The light rail station that will serve Sacramento's new downtown arena will be closed for four months.
Alane Masui is with the Sacramento Regional Transit District. She says the station at 7th and Capitol will be completely redone.
"With the opening of the arena this fall, there's going to be more usage of our downtown stations," Masui says. "And, so, we're focusing on the 7th and Capitol station, which will be our flagship station, also 8th and K and St. Rose of Lima Park at 9th and K will also receive improvements as well."
Most of the work at the 8th and 9th Street stations will occur during nights and weekends. There may be periodic closures.
This is the first phase of RT's station-improvement plan. It also plans to improve park-and-ride stations at Florin, Franklin, Roseville Road, Sunrise Boulevard, and at Watt and Manlove.
