The Placer County Sheriff's Office is searching for a hiker and his dog missing since Monday near Donner Summit.
Authorities say 23-year-old Cody Michael of Rocklin, and his German shepherd, were hiking in Donner Summit area.
They say he texted a photo to his family Monday morning, and he said he would be leaving the area by noon. They haven't heard from his since. Michael's vehicle was found at a trailhead.
Placer County Sheriff's Search and Rescue ground and dog teams are hiking the area and the CHP is assisting with air support.
