Athens Fire In Placer County Burns More Than 150 Acres

Update 10 p.m.: Cal Fire says the Athens Fire burning in Placer County is 169 acres and is 80 percent contained. A commercial plumbing supply storage area has been damaged.

Update 6:00 p.m. : Cal Fire estimates the Athens Fire is now burning 150 acres in Placer County, with 50 percent containment. 

Update 5:40 p.m.: Cal Fire crews are still fighting a small brush fire near Lincoln but have stopped the forward spread of the Athens Fire.

The fire, west of Highway 65 and south of Thunder Valley Casino, covers 100 acres and is 50 percent contained.

There are no structures involved.
