(AP) — Authorities say a wind-driven grass fire has burned two homes and prompted authorities to evacuate the residents of another 10 homes in a north Fairfield neighborhood.
Fairfield police Sgt. Matt Bloesch says the fire may have started Friday afternoon at a homeless encampment along a trail behind the homes.
He said the blaze quickly spread to a shed, then two homes and a detached garage. Patrol officers evacuated 10 more homes on Santa Barbara Way as a precaution.
No injury was reported and the fire was contained by sunset.
Bloesch said police and fire investigators are looking into the cause of the blaze.
Fairfield in Solano County is about 35 miles northeast of San Francisco.
Correction: A previous version of this story said that 3 homes had been burned.
