The Sacramento County Coalition for Youth will spend the next two years on projects that limit access to alcohol, work with communities, create media campaigns, and write legislation.
Joelle Orrock is with the Sacramento County Office of Education.
"So, the action plan is developed. It's the four strategies and a menu of activities that we can look at implementing what activities maybe are the most relevant right now for Sacramento County."
Aaron Hunziker is a senior at Inderkum High and one of 40 members of the coalition. He and another student researched businesses that sell alcohol.
"We'd ask them, 'Oh, how are you limiting access to teens for alcohol. Like, are you keeping alcohol completely at the other end from the snacks and the drinks that teens would normally come in for?'"
The coalition is funded by a three-year grant from the County.
It will begin considering its next steps at its July 13 meeting.
