(AP) - Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson usually wrestles with city issues when he's in the city council chambers. This week, though, he just wrestled.
Johnson and the city council on Tuesday were honoring Sacramento City College for winning the state wrestling championship. Johnson, a former pro basketball player who also used to wrestle, decided to try his moves on one of the community college champions. Joking, the mayor told one of the champion wrestlers that he could "take him." The two got into the standard opening pose on the floor of the council chambers before the mayor decided to get back on to the council dais.
Johnson says he's glad his wrestling challenge was just pretend, or he might have been carted out of the chambers on a stretcher.
