(AP) - Two wildfires that together have burned more than 4,000 acres in foothill suburbs of Los Angeles are growing fast and are surging closer to each other.
The blazes already have forced several hundred people from their homes.
Triple-digit heat has aggravated wildfires from the Pacific Coast to New Mexico. Crews are making progress against a nearly week-old blaze in rugged coastal mountains west of Santa Barbara.
