Original Post: The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office Dive team is searching the Modesto Reservoir for a 10-year-old boy.
According to the department, a group of children had been in a paddle boat anchored to the shore this morning.
One of the children untied the rope so they could go fishing. The wind and water current pushed the boat toward the middle of the reservoir.
Family members saw the children and told them to come back to the shore. The children were not wearing life jackets when they jumped into the water. According to family, the children began to struggle and family used an inflatable air mattress to get to the children.
Three were rescued.
The area where deputies have been searching is approximately 12-14 feet deep with an average water temperature of 67 degrees.
