(AP) - Fire officials in California say a wildfire threat still exists as Kern County residents return to their neighborhoods.
After spreading to more than 46,679 acres, the blaze is now 45 percent contained, but not before killing two people and destroying 200 homes in the southern Sierra Nevada.
The fire began Thursday and quickly exploded in dry brush.
Fire officials say more homes could be vulnerable if winds blow the fire back toward communities.
