The USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships will return to Sacramento State's Hornet Stadium next year.
The event hosts the best track and field athletes in the country.
"In my mind, it's just great to have an odd-year national championship in Sacramento again," says Bob Burns, media director for the event. "There's usually some momentum after an Olympics for the sport and I think it's gonna be a great event."
This is the second time hosting the event since the Sacramento Sports Commission invested $1.2 million to resurface the Hornet Stadium track in 2014.
Sac State will also host the Junior Olympics this year.
This will be the seventh national championship held in Sacramento. The school also hosted the 2000 and 2004 U.S Olympic trials.
