Stockton police officers were served breakfast and lunch Wednesday in a show of support from a Christian group.
As Stockton police officers arrived for roll call something new was added.
Tables were covered with cake, sandwiches, and fruit and vegetable platters.
A local Christian group laid out the food.
Sheldon Vicks says he hopes this will help unite the community and change some hearts.
“We got a lot of thank yous, a lot of appreciative men and women and just said they needed to see something like that, they felt more respected and it was an honor;” says Vicks.
Stockton Police Officer Joe Silva says many people have been bringing cookies and other treats.
“All of them are telling us to be safe and that means a lot to us here at the police department and it just reiterates why we took that oath to protect and serve,” says Silva.
Silva says he sees citizens waving now as patrol cars go by and coming up to officers on the street and expressing their appreciation for the job they do.
