(AP) - A former football player for the University of California, Davis is facing attempted murder and battery charges after prosecutors say he beat a man on the Las Vegas Strip.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that a judge set bail at $50,000 Friday for 24-year-old London Lacy.
Lacy is accused of punching and kicking the man early Saturday morning at the Hilton Grand Vacations.
Police say the victim was intoxicated and confronted Lacy, who was initially calm but then attacked him and kicked him in the jaw.
Police say the victim was bleeding from his head and his breathing was dangerously shallow when medics arrived.
Defense attorney Adam Gill had asked for a lower bail, saying Lacey works for Educational Testing Service in California.
Lacy was a reserve quarterback for UC Davis from 2010 to 2014.
