(AP) - Border Patrol agents seized nearly 100 pounds of methamphetamine and arrested four people after two vehicle searches in southeastern California during the weekend.
An El Centro Sector Border Patrol statement says 39 bundles of methamphetamine totaling 42.9 pounds were found Saturday hidden in a Ford Fusion stopped at a State Route 86 checkpoint. The car was driven by a 22-year-old woman accompanied by a 25-year-old man.
The second seizure occurred Sunday afternoon when Border Patrol agents pulled over a Honda Odyssey on Interstate 10. That vehicle was driven by a 31-year-old woman with 25-year-old male passenger.
Agents found 35 bundles of methamphetamine weighing 55.6 pounds.
The Border Patrol estimated the combined street value of both meth seizures at more than $394,000.
