Update 5:45 p.m.: All Saddle Fire road closures and evacuation orders are lifted as of 6 p.m. Wednesday, according to CAL FIRE.
The fire in Butte County remains at 850 acres and 50 percent contained. Three homes have been destroyed in the fire and another 100 are threatened.
The cause of the Saddle Fire is still under investigation.
Original: The Saddle Fire is still burning at 850 acres in Butte County but crews were able to gain containment overnight, according to CAL FIRE. It is now 50 percent contained.
Evacuation orders are still in effect; however, Butte County CAL FIRE says all warnings and evacuations will be lifted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, with one exception.
The evacuation order for residents on both sides of Pentz Road from Logo Vista to Messilla Valley Road will remain in place.
Evacuation shelters are set up at the following locations:
- Neighborhood Church, 2810 Notre Dame Blvd. Chico.
- Animal Shelters Small Animal – 2279 Del Oro Ave., Oroville - Large Animal – Camelot, 1985 Clark Road
Those who need assistance in evacuating and sheltering pets or animals are urged to call the North Valley Animal Disaster Group.
According to CAL FIRE, five fires started and rapidly grew in size which resulted in the Saddle Fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
