(AP) - U.S. Coast Guard officials say two oil sheens were discovered in the waters north of San Francisco.
KCBS reports Thursday that the sheens were found near the Phillips 66 refinery in Rodeo and in northern San Pablo Bay.
A Coast Guard helicopter crew on Wednesday morning discovered a sheen more than a mile long and 40 yards wide in bay waters. A second sheen was discovered Wednesday afternoon.
The Coast Guard and spill prevention investigators took samples to determine the source.
Officials say several vessels and skimmers contained the spills and 1,000 feet of boom was placed in the water surrounding the refinery, the station reported.
No oiled wildlife has been observed. Investigators have not determined the source of either sheen. The sheens are not responsible for causing a mysterious odor that sickened Vallejo residents Tuesday.
