Get ready to "drop, cover and hold on" for the "Great Shakeout" earthquake drill Thursday at 10:20 a.m.
It's part of the state's effort to ensure Californians are prepared for the next big earthquake.
First responders will participate in drills throughout the state to simulate injuries, fires and search-and-rescue operations.
And authorities are urging all Californians to practice dropping to the ground, finding cover, and holding on.
Capital Public Radio is also participating and will air an alert when the drill begins.
