It was the bribery scandal that shook the California state Capitol a few years back...
An Al-Jazeera America report in 2013 accused Democratic state Senator Ron Calderon of accepting cash and jobs for a son and daughter. He eventually pled guilty to mail fraud and admitted taking bribes.
Now, there's some closure to this story. Today, a judge sentenced Calderon to three-and-a-half years in prison. His lawyer had been seeking house arrest ... while federal prosecutors asked for a five-year sentence.
Calderon's brother Tom, a former assemblyman and political consultant, has already been sentenced to 10 months for laundering bribe money.
