(AP) - Surveillance video at a Reno casino has helped clear three white police officers of any wrongdoing after they shot an armed black man in a downtown parking garage last year.
The Washoe County district attorney's report on the shooting investigation includes multiple statements from the gunman who confirmed the officers' account that he was trying to commit "suicide by cop."
Arthur Richardson Jr. ended up surviving after he raised his gun at police and was shot multiple times.
The officers ultimately helped save his life by administering first aid at the scene following the barrage of gunfire.
The DA's review included nearly 700 pages of statements and evidence, substantiated by the security tape.
Richardson, a convicted felon, said he regretted putting the officers in the "precarious position of doing what they had to do."
He's currently serving up to six years in state prison.
