The future of Covered California may not be clear under the Trump administration, but that hasn't stopped people from enrolling.
More than 44,000 Californians have newly enrolled in health insurance coverage since open enrollment began earlier this month.
Peter Lee is executive director of Covered California. He says six months ago the agency discussed the potential outcomes of the presidential election and what that could mean for the future of Covered California.
"We're the law of the land. Covered California's here," says Lee. "We're here for the foreseeable future and we're the place to sign up at."
Nearly 1.4 million people have gained health insurance through the state-based exchange since 2013.
The deadline to sign up for coverage is January 31.
