Commuters who take ACE trains on the two-hour trip from Stockton to San Jose are about to gain more access to WiFi with a major upgrade ACE is rolling out next month.
ACE trains move more than 100,000 passengers a month now with four daily roundtrips.
Ridership is growing and so too is the demand for WiFi service.
Each train has five to seven cars but only the lead car is equipped with WiFi.
ACE Marketing Manager Chris Kay says starting Jan. 3, all cars will have the free service.
“The Altamont is definitely one of the highest tracked commuter corridors for passenger cars in the nation. They can just come and enjoy their time on the computer and let us take care of the traffic,” says Kay.
Kay also says signal reception is good for most of the trip except for some hilly terrain and a train tunnel.
He reminds us too that the ACE train is now taking passengers to Levi Stadium for 49er home games.
