The Bureau of Reclamation is scheduled to incrementally increase water releases below Nimbus Dam from 3,500 cubic feet per second to 15,000 cubic feet per second Thursday morning.
People along the lower American River downstream from the dam to the confluence of the American and Sacramento rivers can expect river levels to increase and should avoid the area.
The bureau says further adjustments will be made depending on the changes to the volume of water flowing into Folsom Lake.
Current American River conditions may be found at the Department of Water Resources’ California Data Exchange Center.
